What To Do After a Facial—and, more Importantly, what NOT To Do

After your Cared For treatment, I hope your soul and skin are feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Now it’s your turn to care for your skin so we can maintain these results and support your skin through the recovery process!

Avoid the sun

After any skin treatment you will be more sun sensitive so keep away from UV rays especially for the first 3 days post treatment! If you simply must be outdoors please wear a hat, seek out shade and reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours. Bonus points if you do this every day, there is nothing healthy about a tan in 2024!

Stay hydrated, inside and out

Drink plenty of water (always) and make sure you are feeding your skin with hydrating and calming products!
Ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Naicinimide, Peptides and Ceramides will help to maintain your results post treatment and aid in a quick recovery for any more advanced peels or treatments in the future.

Take a pause on your exfoliants and actives!

Post treatment don’t use any Exfoliants, Toners, Retinol, Active Serums or Acne treatments for 4 days unless advised otherwise.

Products containing the following ingredients can over sensitise your skin or cause adverse reactions after a facial, sometimes we need to take a break pre or post treatment.

  • Retinol/ Tretinoin or any form of Vitamin A

  • Vitamin C/ Ascorbic Acid

  • BHA’s/ Salicylic Acid

  • AHA’s/ Lactic acid, Glycolic Acid, Malic Acid

  • Enzyme Exfoliants

  • Physical Exfoliants, Scrubs, Beads, Cleansing tools/ Brushes.

Hold off on applying makeup

Try not to apply makeup for the rest of the day. Applying makeup right after a facial can clog your recently deep-cleaned pores as well as lock in residual heat. This is also a good chance to remind you to wash those makeup brushes, opt for mineral makeup and bin those expired products!

You can look but don’t touch

You really should try to avoid this all the time, but your skin is especially sensitive after a facial. Though it’s tempting to squeeze, peel or pick at every little blemish - now really is not the time. If I didn’t extract it myself there is a reason why! Also avoid touching your face or other treated areas, skip any facial massages and ensure your hands are clean when applying skincare.

Switch out your pillow cases and towels!

Use clean pillowcases and towels to minimise the amount bacteria, dirt and oils getting on your freshly treated skin.

Other Reccomendations

  • Reschedule your workout (First 24hours)

  • Skip the sauna, spa, pool and hot showers (3 days)

  • Postpone any wax or laser treatments on your face (7-14 days depending on treatment)

  • Introduce you actives one at a time starting with a gentle exfoliation on day 4 or later.

  • Don’t introduce any new products for 5 days unless advised otherwise

  • Be careful with your shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste: avoid getting it on your face and cleanse skin after to remove residual product

  • Monthly Facials are a great way to support your skin health and target any concerns or conditions you may experience.
